1. How do you ensure our data is safe when working with you?
I take data security very seriously and apply strict safeguards to protect your information at every stage of a project. All email communication is protected with end-to-end encryption using a zero-access architecture, ensuring only sender and recipient can read messages. Project files are stored on encrypted drives and secure cloud infrastructure with industry-standard protection. Access is restricted solely to me — no subcontractors or third parties. I rely on multi-factor authentication and strong password practices. Sensitive data is transferred only through encrypted channels, never via unsecured attachments. My systems are kept up to date with the latest security patches. I minimize data retention by securely deleting files when they are no longer needed or upon your request.
2. What happens to our data after the project is complete?
By default, I keep your data only as long as needed to finalize deliverables and ensure smooth completion. Afterward, I can securely delete all files on request or archive them for potential future collaboration — the choice is always yours. We can discuss the details and agree on a data retention policy at the start of the project so expectations are clear from day one.
3. How do you transfer large or sensitive datasets securely?
I transfer data only through encrypted channels such as SFTP or private, access-controlled cloud links, ensuring it is never exposed through insecure channels. I also adapt to your workflows and compliance requirements, offering multiple secure options for two-way exchange. This allows you to send files and receive results in the format and method that best fits your organization without compromising security.
4. Will you sign a confidentiality agreement (NDA) if requested?
Yes. I understand the sensitivity of research and business data and I am happy to sign an NDA to provide additional legal assurance of confidentiality. It is usually the first step in creating a safe environment for open and transparent collaboration with my clients.
5. What is your typical workflow when starting a new project?
First, we schedule an initial call (or calls) to clearly understand your goals, challenges, and data requirements. I can then propose a structured plan outlining the scope, timeline, and deliverables. Once agreed, I set up a secure working environment and establish the channels for data transfer and communication. From there, I begin implementing the agreed solution in well-defined stages, sharing progress updates and intermediate results so you stay informed. At the end of the project, I deliver the final outputs and documentation in your preferred format.
6. How do you share progress and results during a project?
I adapt to your preferences — whether through regular email updates, Slack communication, or scheduled calls. For longer projects, I typically provide weekly or biweekly progress summaries so you are always informed about the status and next steps. If you prefer more visibility, I can also set up a shared dashboard where you can track progress in real time.
7. What tools and platforms do you use to collaborate with clients?
I commonly use platforms such as Slack, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, or Zoom for communication. For project management, I can adapt to your preferred system (e.g. Jira, Asana), or provide my own setup.
8. Can you work with my team’s existing infrastructure and tools?
Yes. I regularly adapt to clients’ preferred tools, whether that means working on their AWS or Google cloud accounts, high-performance computing clusters, or project management platforms (e.g. Slack, Jira, Confluence, GitHub). My goal is to integrate seamlessly into your existing workflow.
9. What do you need from us before we begin working together?
At the start, I need a clear description of your project goals, access to any relevant datasets, and information about your preferred tools or infrastructure. If you have internal guidelines (e.g., for data handling or reporting), I will follow them closely. Once we align on scope and expectations, I can get started quickly.
10. Do you also deliver the code you wrote for the project?
In data analysis projects, I provide results and reports by default. The underlying code is available on request, packaged in a repository that you can run independently. For software-focused projects such as reproducible workflows, infrastructure as code, or web applications, the code itself is the primary deliverable. Even if I handle deployment, I always share the repository with you as a separate, standalone package. If helpful, I can also provide a handover session to walk through the codebase and answer your team’s questions.
11. Do you provide documentation for code and your analyses?
I provide clear, structured documentation to ensure my work is reproducible and easy to use by your team. For analyses, this includes detailed methods, data sources, and step-by-step workflow explanation. For code, I add inline comments and supply README files with usage notes, examples, or configuration guidance. The level of detail and format can be tailored to your team’s needs, so you have exactly the information required to rerun or build on my work with minimal effort.
12. Do you offer training or handover sessions for my team?
Yes. I can provide training sessions, documentation walkthroughs, or live handovers to ensure your team is fully comfortable with the results and workflows. This can range from short knowledge-transfer calls to more structured training depending on your needs.
13. Do you provide long-term support after a project is finished?
Yes. I can provide ongoing support, maintenance, or follow-up consulting depending on your needs. This can include troubleshooting, updating workflows, or adapting pipelines to new datasets.
14. How flexible are you with project scope changes?
I understand that priorities can evolve as data is explored and new insights emerge. If the scope changes during a project, I work with you to reassess timelines, deliverables, and budget so that expectations remain clear. Scope adjustments are guided by your priorities — I provide options and recommendations, but you always make the final call.
15. What is your pricing model?
I work on an hourly rate, which allows flexibility for projects of different sizes and levels of complexity. Since every project is unique, I encourage you to reach out to me directly — either by email or through a short introductory call — so we can discuss your specific needs and I can provide the exact rate.
16. Are computing costs (i.e. cloud compute and storage) included in your hourly fees?
No. The costs associated with computing resources — such as cloud compute, storage, or other infrastructure — are not included in my hourly consulting fees, except in cases where they are negligible. These expenses are covered by the client. I’ll work with you to estimate these costs upfront and ensure full transparency so you know what to expect.
